Where has family TV gone?

So, it's that time of year when those of us who tune in to nighttime TV are looking at the new fall line up.  I myself, am a huge fan of TV and could not LIVE with out my DVR!  It's just in the last few years that I have started to realize the changes in TV shows and how they just are not the same as they were when I was a kid.  "Growing Pains", "Who's The Boss?", "Punky Brewster", "Blossom", "The Cosby Show", "Home Improvement", just to name a few of the family based TV shows that I grew up watching.  Where has this type of programming gone, and why?  Yes, my kids and I watch the shows on Disney and Nickelodeon like "Victorious" and "iCarly" and they are great but not the same.  I remember looking forward to TGIF to tune in and watch Steve Urkel and now Friday night can sometimes be the most boring night for family TV.  I just find it very sad that I don't have any of those great shows to sit down and watch with my kids, instead they have learned to love "Survivor" and "Dancing With the Stars".  Wonderful shows and very entertaining, but once again not the same.

Even though I am disappointed in the lack of family based TV these days, I will continue to watch and can't wait for all our favorite shows to return.  Check back later for updates on upcoming shows and reviews!!!
